Dr Sarah Bakewell (f)
Dr Bakewell is the senior partner at the practice. She qualified from Southampton University in 1978 and went on to do the DRCOG in 1981, MRCGP in 1982 and DMJ in 1998. She is a GP trainer, provides full contraceptive care including ius/iucd. |
Dr Anjila Agarwal (f)
Dr Agarwal qualified from Chelsea & Westminster Medical School in 1992 and underwent her vocational GP training locally at Broomfield Hospital. She went on to become a GP registrar at Little Waltham and became a partner in 1997. She holds a Diploma from the Royal College of Obstetricians and gynaecologists (DRCOG) and provides full contraceptive care. She is qualified to insert IUD (coils). Dr Agarwal also holds her MRCGP and is a trainer for new GP’s. |
Dr Dayantha Wijekoon (m)
Dr Wijekoon Joined in June 2001. He qualified from St. Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College in 1995 and after qualifying as a GP worked as a salaried GP for South Essex Heath Authority. He holds a BSc in Pharmacology and a Diploma from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG) and MRCGP. He offers full contraceptive care, and is currently training to become a GP Trainer. |
Dr James Mackin (m)
Dr James Mackin is our newest Partner. He qualified at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and the Royal London in 2001 and also holds a BSC in experimental pathology. He is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) and is interested in all aspects of general medicine. |

Dr Iain Tweedlie (m)
Dr Tweedlie qualified in Aberdeen in 1997. He joined our practice in July 2002 as a registrar and also worked with the Child & Family Consultation Service in Braintree, finally becoming a salaried GP here in September 2003. Dr Tweedlie’s special interests include general medicine, mental health, and child and adolescent psychiatry. |
Dr Joanna Grice (f)
BA, MB BS, MA, DRCOG, MRCGP, LFhom
Dr Grice qualified in 1998 at Oxford University. She was born in Braintree and went to Chelmsford County High School for Girls. She now lives in Chelmsford. She has been with us from September 2003, initially as a locum, and now practices as a salaried GP. Dr Grice has an interest in complementary therapies including a basic qualification in homeopathy and continues to develop these skills. |
Dr Reza Hossain (m)
Dr Hossain qualified from Newcastle Medical School in 1999 and underwent his vocational GP training locally at Broomfield Hospital and in Chelmsford. He holds a Diploma from the Royal College of Obstetricians and gynaecologists (DRCOG), Royal College of Child Heath (DCH), and Faculty of Family Planning (DFFP). Dr Hossain also holds membership for the Royal College of GPs ( MRCGP ).
Dr Hossain has a Diploma in Dermatology, and has been working as a (non-consultant) Dermatologist at Broomfield Hospital intermittently since 2002.
He has also worked for a short time as a Greenpeace ship doctor, and as a rainforest camp doctor for Greenpeace in the Paradise Forests of Papua New Guinea. |

| Doctors with hospital training who wish to become GPs are frequently attached to the Surgeries for a period of 18 months as GP trainees. Currently with us are Dr Farhan Sheikh and Dr Hassan. Locum GPs are occasionally used to cover annual leave. |
